Foundation
OF Wisdom & Knowledge
ABOUT US
While most parents hope to offer their children guidance throughout their lives, the day-to-day hustle and bustle causes many important life lessons to slip through the cracks.
For children in under-served communities facing significant opportunity gaps, skills like how to manage personal finances, how to prepare for and surviving college, and how to pursue and sustain a meaningful career are often overlooked by busy parents just striving to put food on the table.
At the Foundation of Wisdom and Knowledge, our nonprofit organization works to fill gaps in critical life lessons by teaching vulnerable children the skills they need to survive in today’s world. Based in Pasadena, California, we target under-resourced minority communities in the Western region of the United States with programs and services designed to prepare children for success in college and career while helping them understand the basic principles of money management.
The organization was founded in 2020 by Sheena Davis. Born in Pasadena, CA. Sheena was raised by a single mom who didn’t know how to teach her daughter about navigating the ins and outs of college education and personal finance. So Sheena had to learn about everything the hard way.
She learned about college after ambitiously registering for six classes and then failing her first semester.
She learned about credit and personal finance after racking up debt.
Despite the tough lessons life handed her, she was eventually able to pull herself up, brush herself off, learn from her mistakes. In doing so, she was able to earn a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in finance with a concentration in project management. She established the Foundation of Wisdom and Knowledge to ensure that other children like her have the resources she lacked growing up.
At the Foundation of Wisdom and Knowledge, our aim is to pour wisdom and knowledge into children who may not get everything they need from home or school. Our ultimate mission is to help them avoid learning by trial and error by equipping them with the knowledge they need to thrive in as our world’s future leaders.
